Is it confidential?
Yes. All sessions are confidential and your family and employers do not need to know that you attend counselling unless you wish to tell them yourself. Anything you say in the session will be held with the utmost respect. For peace of mind we will both sign and keep copies of the confidentiality agreement.
How can counselling help?
Counselling will take place in my discreet and warm practice room. In the initial session we will discuss what brings you to counselling and the areas that you want to cover. By having the space to talk openly you can begin to understand yourself and your situation – this might involve reflecting on your life experiences and your responses to new ones. We will also help you to identify what changes in life style could reduce any distress you feel, and to support you as you consider how to do this. Depending on what you are able to share, we can explore how you can progress towards living in a way that is more satisfactory and resourceful for you.
What issues do you deal with?
We deal with a whole range of presenting issues including depression, work-related stress, anxiety, relationship problems, abuse, anger management, substance misuse and many more. If we find that the issue you bring to therapy is acute then we can work together to find a therapist that is an expert in the field.
How long are the sessions?
All sessions last for 50 minutes and usually start at the same time each week. Once we have met and agreed to work together we can establish how many sessions you would like, from six weeks to a more open-ended arrangement.
What are the fees?
Sessions are £80 each with some concessions available for those with financial constraints. Payment can be made by cash or card at the start of each session.
